Corteva Agriscience announces its partnership with Anova-Plus to prevent
and manage resistance risks in the field

June 20th 2022 –

Corteva becomes a partner of Anova-Plus in an agreement on solutions for the prevention and management of field resistance risks. The scope of collaboration between the two companies is now being extended to other areas. This is a new step in the collaboration initiated 3 years ago, aimed at offering the agricultural sector tools to identify and quantify the mutations present in a given Plant parasite population (diseases, weeds, insects, etc.). These technological innovations will help farmers to reason out their treatments and protect their crops in an optimal way.

Corteva develops new crop protection products, including alternative modes of action to those already existing. Fungi or weeds can develop resistance to applied treatments. By supporting and integrating the unique, on-site, patented technology of Anova-Plus, Piéton® and Multiplex® kits that detect plant pest variants and their frequencies, Corteva helps farmers in the prevention and management of resistance risks. In a context where resistance problems are increasing and solutions are becoming scarcer, these tools allow better field knowledge and more reasoned cultural practices to guarantee a better protection for farmers.

« Through this partnership, Corteva has chosen to participate even more actively in the agroecological transition by materializing its commitments to Anova-Plus through a 5-year agreement. It is a collaboration that could also be developed on a European scale, given our international dimension and the agricultural issues at stake », says Sylvain Bedel, General Manager of Corteva France.

« For Anova-Plus, this partnership will contribute to develop more awareness of its patented and unique technologies and to be deploying them more rapidly and on a larger scale in the agricultural and agroindustrial fields, thanks to significant funding from Corteva. These new applications will lead to better varietal choices and more environmentally friendly integrated crop protection approaches » said Marc Masson, President and Co-Founder of Anova Plus.

About Anova-Plus

Anova-Plus, labeled by Evry Genopole, was created 10 years ago, has about ten employees and engineer interns. Its mains R&D’ s axes are resting on the secular axiom “better know your enemies to better fight them”. Axiom applied to Plant Health. Our patented technologies allow us to extend potential applications to Human and Animal health.

Anova-Plus develops diagnostic tools, simple, fast and usable on-site (closest of the plot of crops). These tools characterize the variant strains of plants parasites. Being able to characterize these parasites for their resistance to
pesticides and their ability to circumvent varietal resistances in order to better prevent their attacks and limit damages. Adaptiveness of variant strains to climate changes, temperatures, hygrometry, drought and others adaptive characteristics are also subject of our research.

Anova-plus gather and organize collected data about variant strain frequencies, inducting resistances or other characteristics in terroir databases, associated to plot crop history, pedoclimatic, agronomic and varietal data. These databases make more reliable digital applications for recommendations resulting from all calculated correlations between all those data.
